Why doesn’t death affect me emotionally?

Death, the word that terrifies and scares everyone, why though?

Ever since we were kids, we’d hear our relatives saying that somebody had died, died sick, died in a car crash, was killed or simply died asleep. It scared us and traumatized us, it made us fear death without even knowing what it was.

Death is just a step that we all have to take whether we want to or not, we simply have no choice. We’ll take this step sooner or later, it’s like graduating high school, the only difference is that it’s an unwanted step, it’s similar to your least favorite subject in school; you avoid it the whole school year but have to face it on the examination day even if you don’t want to.

Instead of fearing death, I believe that we should be ready for it, not by sitting in a corner waiting for it to hit, but by living our lives the fullest, doing whatever we want so that when the time comes, we wouldn’t regret not doing anything and we’d really be ready to go.
