The most talked about autobiography in 2023.

Lately, I’ve been getting into autobiographies and surprisingly, I’m liking them. I find them fun and fascinating. Reading about someone’s childhood, struggles, and life achievements is a totally different experience than reading fiction or self-help books.

To be honest, this sudden interest in autobiographies started with me wanting something to listen to while I work. After listening to thousands of podcast episodes, and endless music playlists, I needed to change the tune and find something more interesting. The moment I realized I can fully concentrate on work and listen to something at the same time, I began the journey.

So far this year, I read some great titles. Like Tina Fey’s Bossypants, Amy Poehler’s Yes Please, and Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me, which were all soo good!!

However, the moment I found out that my favorite royal, Prince Harry, has released a book called Spare talking about his life, I sprinted to get the audiobook.

As expected, Prince Harry’s Spare started with the funeral of the late Princess Diana, and it took me two sentences to get hooked.

To say the book was emotional would be an understatement, and I’m not even from the UK. I have absolutely no relation to the royal family. Heck, my own country has a royal family I should be interested in. Yet, there is something about witnessing all the events Prince Harry has gone through that got me attached to the family even more.

The way he talked about Princess Diana made me pause my work, and listen and cry. It was so overwhelming and, honestly, heartbreaking. You could feel the gap her death left in his life.

The book goes into great detail about the Prince’s struggles with his relationship with his dad and brother, the way he handled his mother’s passing, his service in the military, and even his frostbitten member. Yes, Prince Harry wasn’t shy when it came to talking about how his baby-maker got frostbitten when he walked to the North Pole. (How cool is that? The North Pole walk, not the frostbite.)

Moreover, the Prince talks about his failed relationships due to the press and the way they literally ruined his life for years and years. He also talks about meeting the love of his life, Meghan Markle, and how they both struggled with not only the press but also the way the palace responded to the backlash they got. He also talks about why and how he managed to flee the royal life for the sake of his wife and child. Frankly, the whole debacle with the press and the paparazzi made me so angry.

What made me question everything was the way the palace controlled Meghan Markle’s job. You read that right, the palace had a say and what the actress could and couldn’t say on Suits.

Please note that I may earn a commission if you order the books I mention from Amazon. Make me rich ❤

I would love to tell you more, but I don’t want to give too much. If you have any interest in the UK royal family and their struggles, I highly recommend this book. Although it was 15 hours long, it was totally worth it as it delves deeply into Prince Harry’s life. And, if you get the audiobook, you get to listen to Prince Harry himself since he narrated it.

You can get the audiobook of Prince Harry’s Spare here and even the paperback if you like to have a physical copy (and maybe write your opinion on the pages, like I sometimes do).

So what are you waiting for? Go check out the book and tell how if it was worth it or not!

Until next time, go read Spare.
