I’m Getting Married!

Come, take a trip with me down memory lane.

Before I start, I want to give you a quick update on my COVID-19 scare; I am feeling much better, I can taste and smell normally, I am still quarantining myself, it's day 10 today (December 12th).

Ok ok, I’ll stop stalling and tell you how, when, and to whom I’m getting married, it all started 4 years ago.

In 2016, I met a wonderful boy, let us call him Albert, who treated me like a queen. He was so nice and respectful to me. I’ll never forget our first chat because it was in front of the whole class.

A couple of weeks later, Albert found out that I do not date, he never brought it up again but and we started getting close day after day but in a friendly way, we would study, hang out together, and basically, just have fun.

There is this thing about me that I like a lot, I have male friends more than females, even dad knows this and he’s a strict parent. I like the way guys treat me in a friend group, I’m like the little sister. I feel safe; Albert was one of those guys.

Months go by and we became closer than ever, what I liked about him was his way of treating me, he treated me with respect and respected my limits (the bare necessities I know).

Around the last weeks of school (2017), we started talking about the possibility of us dating (spoiler alert; he does not remember our conversation now). He told me and I quote: “We can’t date, because if we do, I’ll end up hurting you, I’m a boy who still wants to fool around, I’m not ready for something serious, and I know that you are a serious person, I don’t want to cause you pain”. Therefore, we made a pact!

We promised each other that in 5 years if neither of us was in a serious relationship, we would get married. It was like a backup plan, kind of like the one Rachel and Phoebe made with Ross and Joey. It was cute.

A couple of months ago (2020), I sent Albert a message reminding him of our pact and how we are close to reaching the end. We realized we aren’t ready yet and we added a couple of years to our promise.

What I love the most about the pact is how seriously we are taking it, we never took it as a joke. Am I ready to get married? No, but the thought of marrying my best friend excites me, I used to have doubts sometimes but now everything became clear, I am more than willing to marry Albert.

To sum up, I invite you all to my wedding and I want a car as a gift!
