I Took a Step Back from Social Media and I Regretted It
Free Palestine 🍉
Last year, I decided to remove all social media platforms from my phone as they were becoming too negative and I could not handle the stress.I felt immediately better. It took me months to go back, and I removed it again after a couple of weeks. This time, however, I felt bad about removing it.
Unless you’ve been living in a bunker for the past decades, you would know what’s happening in the world right now. A country which name rhymes with Ismael has been committing heinous crimes on a country whose name rhymes with Clementine. The crimes are so horrible that they reached a level of genocide. They demolished homes, hospitals, schools, and even refugee camps in the name of what? Nothing. There’s nothing that excuses the way Ismael has been behaving.
I feel like I’m getting sidetracked here. SO! I removed Instagram and Twitter off my phone last week because of the negativity I have been seeing on the platforms. The homophobia, transphobia, and Islamophobia are OUT of this world. I was and still am so disappointed in the human race for having that much hatred against each other.
The second I left the platforms, I started feeling guilty. Am I a coward for hiding from the negativity? Why aren’t I using my accounts to get more awareness of the BIG problems that are happening in the world? Am I worse than the celebrities who stay silent in the face of tragedy? All of the questions roam my mind 24/7 and I feel horrible for choosing my mental health first. I’m thinking about going back. Or at least, accessing the platforms through my laptop to share as much as I can about the genocide that’s happening in front of us.
You might be saying, ‘Why is she ranting? We don’t care about your feelings. I agree; I am ranting. I don’t want you to care about my feelings. I just want you to listen to what I’m saying and try to help those in need.
You don’t need to be a Muslim or an Arab to recognize that Ismael is killing innocent people left and right. You only need to be a human being.
I want to do whatever I can to help and I want you to do the same. You don’t have to donate money if you haven’t gotten any in the first place. But, you can sign petitions and share donation links.
Here is a list of petitions you can sign:
- Demand a ceasefire by all parties to end civilian suffering
- Call to Action to Address Gaza Humanitarian Crisis
- Global Solidarity: One Million Voices for Ending the War and Upholding Palestinian Rights
- Urge the Canadian Government to Locate and Rescue Citizens Kidnapped by Isreal in Gaza
- Freedom For Palestinian Healthcare Workers
Here are a couple of donation links if you are able to donate:
- Help Evacuate Dima and her Family
- Help evacuating my family from Gaza
- Help the Ghabayen family evacuate Gaza

You can even purchase products made by Palestinians where the entire proceeds go to help the creators themselves:
You can also stream this playlist that has songs whose earnings go to the Palestinian cause.
Please, let’s all be better and use our internet for a good cause. Signing petitions can take 10 minutes of your day. It won’t cost you a thing.
PS: If you have any other petitions or donation links, please send them to me on Instagram or by Email and I will add them to this article.
Until next time, let’s unite against oppression and genocide.
