5 Books That Changed My Way Of Thinking.
Books can really have an effect when you give them your 100%.
If you follow me on Instagram, you would know that I eat and breathe books. This obsession is motivated by the effects books have on me. I simply love it when a book sends me to another realm and I lose the sense of time.
Some of the books I’ve read in the past really affected me and made me reflect on my thinking habits and eventually change them. We really don’t know if we think straight (or gay hehehe) until someone else points out our thinking patterns.
Please note that I earn a commission when you order the books through Amazon (links below). Make me rich ❤
1. The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A Fuck — Mark Manson:
I consider this book my bible. It really showed me that I wasted a lot of time and effort on useless shit that didn't do me any good. The general idea of the book is that you shouldn’t give a fuck about things that aren’t worth giving a fuck about. And I live by that daily.
I lost my first copy and couldn’t read it again but a dear friend of mine got me a new hardcover copy so I’ll be reading it again soon. I need to update my fucks to give.
“The key to a good life is not giving a f*ck about more; it’s giving a f*ck about less, giving a f*ck about only what is true and immediate and important.”
2. Beyond Negative Thinking — J.T.Martorano & J.P.Kidahl:
Another book that I’ll always recommend! This beauty has everything a person needs to become more positive and eventually make your life better.
Some people don’t fully understand the importance of positive thinking and self-talk. We can easily live a better life if we think positively. I know that life isn’t sunshine and rainbows but you can make it better by just thinking differently.
This book had a couple of thinking exercises that I still follow when I find myself drowning in my own negative thoughts.
Please note that changing the way you think doesn’t happen overnight. Yet, if you really put your mind to it, you can achieve a more positive mindset easily.
“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.”
3. When The Clock Struck Zero — John G. Taylor:
This piece of art made me realize that I knew nothing about our universe and I felt so dumb and small. It set me up on a journey to read more about the beginning of the universe.
The book is mainly about the beginning of the universe and what would eventually happen when it ends. It was so interesting and it amazed me. It was also so easy to follow.
It is a bit outdated as it came out in the 90’s but it was really interesting.
4. The Midnight Library — Matt Haig:
As a person who sometimes struggles with suicidal thoughts, this book was so helpful.
It’s a novel that follows the story of a young woman who committed suicide because she was unsatisfied with her life. Between life and death, she found herself in a big library that contains books with different life possibilities. This was to show her that she could be anything she wanted and that every small action we make can easily alter our future.
This book made me cry, laugh, and gave me the will to live as it showed me that life can be whatever I want it to be. I’m in control of setting my future and creating my own reality.
“I may not have been sure about what really did interest me, but I was absolutely sure about what didn’t.”
5. I Am Right, You Are Wrong — Edward De Bono:
Last but not least in this list of books that changed the way I think, we have the king De Bono whom I love deeply. He is just amazing.
This was the first book I read of his and it wasn’t the last. I went on a mission to find all of his other work and I have over four of his books on my shelf that need to be read.
In this piece of art, he tackles our traditional thinking patterns and how they can be useless in solving some modern problems. To keep it short, he believes that our thinking isn’t white or black but merely gray.
I loved this book so much to the point that I always recommend it because it was unimaginably good.
“A person who knows all the answers, has an opinion on everything, has a certainty backed up by rational argument, has very little possibility of further progress. Such a person is unlikely to walk away from a discussion with anything more than a reaffirmation of how right he or she has been all along.”
Please remember that a book can only leave a mark if you give it the attention it deserves. If you read a book and you get nothing from it, then you probably didn’t read it well.
If you have read any books that have affected you deeply, please feel free to share them with me.
Happy reading, xx!
